As I told you before, hang in there. The semester is going over soon. Now it is the time that we wrap up everything, including your assignment, portfolio, and your EXPERIENCE and KNOLWEDGE about integrating technology into teaching. I enjoyed a lot having this class with you. I am glad that you all joined the class discussion, try your best to finish the assignments, and show your learning progress. Hopefully, you will bring the experience and knowledge learned in EDIT 2000 to your future classroom.

Today we still have something left to do.
1. You need to set up your station to demonstrate your work in the beginning of the class and I am going to provide some snacks.
2. Watch your iMovie project
3. Present your portfolio site and your favorite work to other classmates
4. Vote for the most representative portfolio of our EDIT 2000
5. Complete the end-of-course evaluation - please take this seriously - (as I -- and my department head -- certainly do)
6. We need to take a class picture
7. Please make sure you fill in the "Final Checkout" sheet before you leave - with your portfolio address and your contact information in case I am unable to access your work
8. For 11:15 class, make sure that you get the graded evaluation form from me for your Capstone project and the current grade report for the previous projects (grade for final reflection and final portfolio are not included)
9. I will finish grading by May. 7 - your grade will be available in OASIS immediately after I post them. Please let me know if you have questions about your final grade.

I've finished all of the grading for 10:10 class. For those who don't get 80%, you will have another chance to resubmit your work. Please revise according to my feedback. If you don't submit on time, I will not accept your revised work.

Day 42 - Final Portfolio

Class Offered Next Semester
In the begining of the class, we will have Ms. Gretchen Thomas to talk to you about the class that she is going to offer next fall. She is a great teacher and a nice person to work with. If you take her class, I am sure that you will LOVE her.

Final Reflection
After we went through the assignment description for your final refelction, by now you should be clear about what to write. A good tip for you is always go back to the blog that I posted in the begining of the semester about learning puzzle and Loti level. You will get a lot out from information there.

Final Portfolio
It's time to finish up your portfolio. View the project description to see what will be graded. All of your pages should be completed by next Monday (April 30). After you complete your entire portfolio, you will need to proofread your pages and ensure that all of your links work. For both your final reflection and final portfolio, you can not use the late pass. They will need to be submitted by the due day on time.

Last Day of Our Class -- Final Showcase
We have several things to complete on Monday. Do you still remember your iMovie project? Yes, we will be watching your movie. After that, you are going to view the work of your classmates and vote on the portfolio that is the most representative of the work that is completed in EDIT 2000. Prizes will be awarded. Make a plan how you will decorate your station and how you will encourage fellow students to view your stations.

For Friday's Class:
1. Submit a hardcopy of your final reflection. You don't need to work in GooglePage for this project.
2. Continue to finish up your final portfolio and start to plan how to decorate your stations

Day 41 - Let's Wrap Up

Your Capstone Project
In today's class, I will collect the hardcopy of your completed ASSURE model lesson plan. After that, I will be giving you 5 minutes to convert your final Capstone project to PDF format. In other words, you need to finish up everything for the Capstone project except the conversion to PDF format.

Final Reflection
It has been a long way for you to go through many projects in our class. Now we are moving toward the end of the semester. I believe you learned a lot from the projects. Let's conclude your learning journey in EDIT 2000 with a reflection. Today we will be going through the background information for final reflection. Your reflection will be due on April 27, which is this Friday. The reflection requires you to respond to the questions in the final reflecton project description page. It will not be longer than 3 pages.

For Wednesday's Class
We will talk about some items you need to pay attentionto for the completion of your portfolio. Also, I will explain how the internal showcase will be going on last day of class.

By today, you should complete the first three sections of the ASSURE model, including Analyze learners, State Objectives, and Select Methoda, Media, and Materials.
In today's class, let's continue to work on the rest of three sections. In the Utilize Media and Materials, make sure that you address 5Ps. The next section is the largest section in your Capstone project, which you need to indicate the sequential order of your instruction. Last session, evaluate and revise, needs your clear plan of how to evaluate the learners, the instructors, and media use. Always visit our project description page to ensure that you are on the right track.

For Next Monday's Class:
The Capstone project will be due next Monday at the begining of the class. In addition to the completion of the GooglePage, you also need to bring a hardcopy of your final product. If you fail to bring your copy, your final product will not be accepted.

Introduction to Capstone Project
There are many different lesson plan formats, but one that helps to organize teaching and learning through the use of technologym is the ASSURE model:
A: Analyze Learners
S: State Objectives
S: Select the Methods, Media, and Materials
U: Utilize Media and Materials
R: Require Learner Participation
E: Evaluate and Revise
For your Capstone Project, you will select one of the projects you created this semester and write an original lesson plan that uses that project to teach a Georgia Performance Standard. You will use the ASSURE model as your lesson plan format. The instructor in IT program, Gretchen Thomas have created a web page that will walk you through the development process step-by-step. The handout that I gave it to you last Friday can be very helpful as well. You can view the project description and grading rubric.Your final product (due on Monday, April 23) will be the completed instructional plan template. It will be most likely 3-4 pages long. The largest section of your template should be the "Require Learner Participation" section, as this is where you will describe students' actual learning activities -- what your learners will be doing.

Day 37 - iMovie 4

Target at finishing up your movie TODAY!
You should finish cropping your clips on Wednesday. You also added transitions, effects, titles in your movie. Today you will continue to work on your movie and wrap up editing it. The length of your movie should be 2-3 minutes. We aim to finish your movie by the end of this class. However, if you need more time to work on it, you can go to OIT (Rm 232) to check out the key for editing suite (Rm602) by yourselves.
Now, you have learned the tool, but we haven't talked about how this tool can assist in the teaching and learning process. Please view the examples below to get ideas on teaching with digital video and still images.

You can also view more examples from Apple Learning Interchange. When you view these examples, think about the following questions. What standards in your content area lend themselves to digital images? What learning style can be supported by the use of digital images? What teaching strategies can be supported by using digital images? Does it matter who is creating the image - the teacher or students? Does it matter as far as LoTi levels?
In your reflection for iMovie project, you need to locate four examples of educational video in your chosen grade level and subject area. Include the links, screenshots, and descriptions for the examples that you found online. In order to make sure that you are on the right track, going over the iMovie project description can be very helpful.

For Monday's Class:
1. Your iMovie project will be due on Monday, April 16 at the begining of the class. Include your movie (Email format), reflections on developing this project, four education video examples, and their links, screenshots, and descriptions.
2. Review the reading about ASSURE model carefully for your next project, capstone. By reading the article can GREATLY help you work on CAPSTONE project.

Day 36 - iMovie 4

Today is our second day to edit your movie. Please go directly to the editing suite (Rm 602) and use the computer that you worked with on Monday. On Monday's class, you had imported your footage to the computer and started to organize your footage. Many of you had already started cropping your footage and adding effects and transitions to your movie. In today's class, you can start to add the still images and music background if it's applicable. So, don't forget to bring your music and still images today.

For Friday's Class:
1. Continue to work on your movie and bring any needed still images or music for your editing.
2. By the end of the class, you should be able to export your movie, find other four educational video examples to include in your reflection for iMovie project.
3. Again, the due day for your iMovie project will be Monday, April 16, at the begining of the class.

Day 35 - iMovie 3

Let's start editing!
(1) Bring your tape of no more than 8 minutes of raw footage for your video.
(2) Bring any music that you want to use as background on your video.
(3) Bring any still images you want to use in your video
(4) We will be working with your video at the editing suite, which is in rm 602. We will still meet in our LAB (Rm616) at the beginning of today’s class.

Today you'll begin editing your video. Our goal for today is to import all of your raw footage and begin cropping. Decide what (if any) music or voiceovers you want to use and be prepared to work on them on Wednesday.

Please note that your group can reserve the editing suites on your own through OIT in room 232. Friday will be our last day to edit as a class. Your movies are due at the beginning of class Monday, April 16.

Continue edidint your movie. Also, bring any still images and music for your movie if you need to.

Day 33 - iMovie 1

iMovie and Educational Videos
Public service announcements have been around forever. It is incredible what an impact 30 seconds can have. Using video ineducation has been around for a long time, but it is just in recent years that it has become simple for classroom teachers and children to create and edit their own educational videos. The Apple Learning Interchange gives multiple examples of using educational video for teaching content standards.You'll want to review the project descriptions for this project. We will use iMovie for editing. iMovie HD is the software available in the iLife suite on Macintosh computers. PCs have a similar software called MovieMaker 2.0 -- but it is not as easy to use in its existing version.Today you'll learn the ins and outs of the software. We will edit video during the next 3 class meetings.

For Friday:
1. One of the students from each group sends me following information (Due: April 6, 10 am):
1) name of your group members,
2) Title of your project,
3) Target Audiences,
4) Objectives of your educational movie

In today’s class, we will have thirty minutes to wrap up your WebQuest. After that, you will be collecting feedback from other classmates to improve your WebQuest. After review, the reviewer will give the critique form to the designer. And the designer will need to post the critique to the blogsite.

For Wednesday’s class:
1. Review the project description before you turn in your WebQuest on April, 4 (Wed) at the beginning of the class. Send your project to yichunhong@gmail.com with subject as webquest_yoursession_yourname.
2. In your WebQuest page under your portfolio, you will need to include a description of your WebQuest, a screen shot of your WebQuest, a link to your blogsite, and a link to your introduction page of your WebQuest website.

Day 30 - WebQuest 4

By today, you and your team member should have finished the following components for the WebQuest project: introduction, task, and process page. In today's class, you can go ahead and start working on evaluation and process page. Please be reminded for this very useful website, which can help you with creating the rubrics for the tasks and questions that you assigned to your target audiences.
In your conclusion page, in addition to summarize the learned knowledge and skills, it will be more valuable when you provide the resources for future learning.
In your blog after today's session, please freely reflect your learning journal, your progress on the project, and the assignment between you and your team member.

Preparation for iMovie
For your next project, you will need 4-5 people in a group to work on your iMovie project. The topic of your project should address the curriculum standard in your chosen grade level and subject area upon the agreement withing your team members. After you identify your team members, please go to OIT (Rm 232) to reserve digital camcorder for filming. You will need the digital camcorder from April, 4 through April, 9.

Day 29 - WebQuest 3

Now that you have completed the draft of introduction and task pages, how will you design the entire process section for your learners? Besides the websites that I introduced in the previous sessions, the Building Blocks of a WebQuest page will also help you to better understand the purpose of each. Today will mostly your group discussion and working time. This project will be due on Wednesday (April, 4).

Some Things to Consider:
Here are some questions to consider as you are working on your WebQuest, post the responses to these questions on your Blog:
*Is your WebQuest topic authentic in order to engage your students?
*Is your WebQuest task challenging and doable?
*Do your learners need to think independently and critically during the WebQuest activity?
*Is collaboration between your students important for the successful completion of the WebQuest?
*What scaffolds (visual organizers, software tools, prompting questions and suggestions) are provided in your WebQuest?

By now, you and your partner should find good ideas for your WebQuest. Now let's put your ideas into a usable format. How do you ensure that students will be engaged in your WebQuest activity? View the WebQuest Taxonomy of Tasks to determine in what category your original WebQuest will fall. Now that you have an idea for your WebQuest, how will you design the entire process section for your learners? What are the major components of a WebQuest and what is the role of each in the learning activity? Get started writing your own WebQuest by using WebQuest Design Process as a guide. You can also use the WebQuest Design Patterns page as a reference.

Now that you have an idea for content flow how do you put it all together into a web-based learning activity?
1. Go to Google Page Creator
2. Create Subpages for your WebQuest, which includes introduction page, task page, process page, evaluation page, conclusion page, and teacher page.
3. Use the WebQuest Design Process and the WebQuest Design Pattern as your references to complete each component for your WebQuest.
4. You can also use the student samples from previous semester to get you ideas on your WebQuest

If you don't have time to finish it by today, please bring your late pass for additional 48 hours. Otherwise, I am not going to accept your late work.

Our next project - WebQuest is going to ROCK!!
What exactly is a WebQuest? What are the components of the WebQuest? What advantages and disadvantages do you see in teaching with WebQuests? What standards in your content area lend themselves to WebQuests?
Viewing exemplary WebQuests is a good way to get started on your own. Go to the main WebQuest page and click the words "Find WebQuests" on the left navigation bar. Using the Curriculum/Grade Level Matrix (in the middle of the page), spend a few minutes viewing 2 or 3 WebQuests in your content area. You can also see interviews with teachers who have used WebQuests here.
Begin to formulate an idea for a "hook" for your own WebQuest. It may be related to work you have already done in our class or work you are currently completing in other courses. It could even be something completely new in your content area. Before next class (March, 23), you'll need to identify your WebQuest topic. Use this website to help you in the selection process. Generally, a good WebQuest topic should have some inherent complexity, such as controversial issues, multiple perspectives, unknowns, etc. The topic needs to have your students take information in and transform it, using their own judgments and creative problem-solving techniques -- a LoTi level 4 or higher -- the learning should be authentic. Certain topics tend to lend themselves more to the WebQuest format than others.
WebQuest is DIFFERENT!!
In this project, you are not going to work individually. You need to find one partner (two people in a group) to work collaboratively for your project. So, before you leave class today, you will need to find a classmate and initially identify the content that you are going to engage your target learners in learning with your WebQuest.
Also, in order to reflect your thinking and learning journey, you also need to use Blogger to record your progress at least once after each class session.

Web Resource

She will introduce where to locate the teaching / learning material for K-12 students and teachers, and how to evaluate the web resources. Since our next project is WebQuest project and you will be required to find web resources for your target audiences in your project, please seize this opportunity to ask any questions regaring your WebQuest resources. I believe Nadine's expertise will be of great help for your project.

Inspiration/Kidspiration
Today we are going to walk you through the rubrics and details for this project. After the introduction of Inspiration/Kidspiration after Wednesday's class, I expect that you should have an idea on content/curriculum standards to be addressed in this project. We learned to use Inspiration from last session. For those who are going to use Kidspiration (Grade K through Grade 5), please be noted that the interface of Kidspiration is quite similar to that of Inspiration. You should feel comfortable with using Kispiration as you do with Inspiration. In today’s class, you will mainly work on your project. I will assist you with any of your technical problems.
If you can't finish the project at our lab, you can also go to Inspiration website to download 30 day free trial version.

For the Monday (March 19) after Spring Break:
1. We are going to have a “Web Resources” session. In this session, you are going to learn how to evaluate web resources and where to find K-12 resources from web. Nadine Cohen, a UGA librarian is going to give us a lecture. This session will be particularly helpful for your next project, WebQuest. Please take this learning experience seriously. Since Nadine and I haven’t decided where to meet for this session, I will announce it on our Blog before March 19. Please pay particularly attention to the announcement of the location on the Blog. If you go to the wrong location and miss the class, you will be counted toward absence.

Concept Mapping Tool - Inspiration / Kidspiration
Your understanding of learning theory and technology integration has come together. In the beginning of the semester, we learned technology tools can be used in conjunction with good teaching strategies to address various learning styles and students’ needs. Today we will be looking at visual learning software - Inspiration and Kidspiration. Both tools allow PreK-12 students to see a concept and its connecting themes and ideas. You'll create an activity for your subject area/grade level. You'll need to find outmore information about Kidspiration and Inspiration software and read more about the Kidspiration and Inspiration assignment beforegetting started on your project.If you want to get a concrete picture of how your Inspiration/Kidspiration project look like, you can view sample projects here.
In order to help you quickly learn the basic features of Inspiration, working with a partner and creating a diagram in Inspiration similar to the one shown in today's class. Learn to explore a new software by yourself is also a very important skill that you need in order to survive in this high-tech era.

Today we will have some time working independently on your projects. Make sure you review the project description so that you are certain that you meet all the requirements. For this project, the hard-copy of evaluation form will not be given out. All the information is up online in our class website.

Always remember to go to sample projects to get an idea on how to write reflection for your PowerPoint game project.

By then, you should have finished the following slides for your game: copyright notice, credits, educational objectives, cover (first), story, game directions, and game rules. You should start your question slides, game pieces, and game board slides. For those who decided to draw your gameboard with Firework, make sure that you have ideas on your gamebaord design and have collected some images for your game baord. In today's class, we will mainly walk you through the instruction for using Macromedia Firework. If you need to work at home but you don't have Macromedia Fireworks, you can download it here.

As you continue working on your PowerPoint games -- it is important to focus on the instructional value of your game -- and value is added through good questions. What makes a good question?

Bloom's Taxonomy is an easy way to learn more about various levels of questioning. Even young children can use Bloom's Taxonomy to improve their work.Here's a video of a class of children who use it to design literature units. After the presentation, you are going to take your three questions "up a level" on Bloom's Taxonomy. Use these improved questions as a model for all 25 questions to be included in your game. Don't forget that you can checkout textbooks from the Curriculum Materials Center in rm 207 for more ideas for questions (just make sure you're not plagiarizing!) Continue working on your game outside of class (it is due Wednesday,March 7)-- you have a handout on scanning in gameboards if you choose to draw yours by hand. As you work -- review student samples and the PowerPoint Games Project Rubric to ensure that you are meeting the expectations of the assignment. You can earn additional "wow" points by packaging your game. This would include a professional-looking game box with all of the materials necessary to play the game included in the box (The package is due Monday, March 19).

After demonstrating how to make action buttons, let's talk about your game board. There are two ways to make the game board. One is to use your hand, the other is to use computer to draw a game board. If you choose to use your hand, you will need to scan your game board. The instruction will give it to you next week. If you want to draw the game board with computer, you can draw it in PowerPoint (one letter size) or your can draw it in Firework (as large as you want). This is your option to learn to use Firework to draw the board. There are two parts of your game that ensure students will want to use it for learning: the story and the level of questions. You want to make sure that you have an engaging story - and you also want to make sure that your game is the right level of challenge. Factual level questions are too easy (and boring) regardless of the grade level you are targeting. We'll spend time in class on Monday learning how to write good questions.

For Next Monday's class:
1. By now, you should have finished the basic slides, including first slide, story, objectives, credits, copyright notice.

By now you should have your first draft of the story and select the curriculum standards to address your game. Your game should be designed to introduce content or to provide practice for students' understanding. If your game is designed around basic factual recall -- think of another game!
After sharing your story and game ideas, we will go through the project description and begin to download the template. Most of the technical skills you need to create the game were acquired when you created the seating chart for Productivity Tool Project. Using the drawing toolbar in PowerPoint will allow you to customize your game template.

Part II. Introduction to PowerPoint Game
Technology allows educators to respond to various learning theories - from behaviorism to constructionism. Today we'll talk about PowerPoint games: what they are and how they help students construct their own knowledge by building the artifacts while learning-- constructionism.
What were your favorite games? What characteristics made them your favorite? What experience do you have with instructional games? Are the characteristics of your favorite games found in most instructional games? How can PowerPoint be used to create an instructional game for your subject area?
It's important to know a little bit of background on the PowerPoint games project before we begin. Dr. Lloyd Rieber - a professor in my department - wrote a paper on this very topic. Many EDIT 2000 students have created their own games and more and more K-12 classrooms are using PowerPoint games as a way to address contentstandards through constructionism.
You'll want to view some sample games from the Homemade PowerPoint Games website and from student sample and student examples from last summer. After viewing several, you'll want to get started on your game. You'll need to look over the project assignment and use learning puzzle chart to organize the content that you are going to present with PowerPoint Game.

For Next Monday:
In the learning puzzle chart, fill out the curriculum standard section with curriculum standard(s) that you are going to address in your PowerPoint Game. In the story section, come up a story for your game. On Monday and Wednesday’s class, each one of you will have four minutes presentation on your story and the curriculum standards. You can create a short PowerPoint slide or use Microsoft Word to provide visual cues for your classmates.

According to our schedule, you should have finished your nine objects, including brochure/newsletter, seating chart, calendar, grade sheet, attendance sheet, pictograph, hall pass/certificate, business card/students’ name tag, and worksheet. Today our two main goals are converting files to PDF format, and capturing screen shots of your completed objects.

Part I. Capture the screen shots
Showing images is a good way to decorate your web pages. It also provides your readers a big picture of what your web page is about. In your productivity tool, you need to include at least three screen shots of your objects. You can also include all of them to make your web page even easier to understand.

Part II. Convert your files to PDF format
We have used various programs to create nine objects for productivity tool project. Imaging that your reader will need to run their computers with different programs at the same time, how much time it will take them to finish viewing all your objects? Therefore, we want to provide them a more efficient way to see your works by converting all the files into PDF format.

Part III. Lesson plan with technology integration
In order to learn more about use of technology into classroom, we are going to explore how other teachers integrate technology into teaching. Now, we need to find three lesson plans where productivity tool is integrated and see how they assist their teaching.

Select your grade level, select "technology integration" for the subject.Click the "Search QCC button". Then click the "Productivity" link
2. Microsoft Lesson Plans
Remember that lower grade levels may use tools like Graph Club(for spreadsheets/graphing) and KidPix (for multimedia presentations)instead of Excel and PowerPoint - but you can use these as examplesfor your reflection. Don't forget that all of this goes onto theProductivity Tool page with links to the objects you created.
3. iWork in the classroomThis website provides the lesson plan ideas for using keynote andpages in Macintosh computer.

Part IV. Writing reflection
If you have completed nine projects and found three lesson plans, you can go ahead to write your reflection for productivity tool in Google Page Creator. First of all, include links for the nine objects and give an explanation for each of the object. You need to talk about what you learned in the development of the artifact, and how it could be used in a classroom. Next, include at least three screen shots that you captured for your objects. Then, include three lesson plans that you found which use productivity tools in teaching, and explain in detail the types of activities students can do using productivity tools. Your discussion and specific descriptions should focus on activities at a LoTi level of 2 or higher.

For Wednesday’s Class:
You should complete nine objects, capture at least three screen shots of your artifacts, and convert files into PDF format. Again, the due day for productivity tool project will be on Friday at beginning of our class.

Creating Pictograph with Microsoft Excel
In Monday's class, we learned to use Excel to create students' attendance and grade record. Now, do you feel more comfortable with using Excel to make your administration works even more efficient? After we completed grade and attendance record, today we will be again using Excel to create pictograph.
Pictograph is a symbol representing a concept, object, activity, place, or event by using illustration. Often times, we see people using bar chart in their powerpoint presentation. In order to better attract your students' attention and use graphics to get your points across, we will be creating pictograph for "your future class". Besides walking you through, you can also go to Microsoft website for the tutorial of creating pictograph.

For Friday's Class:

Creating a grade book/attendance record in Excel
MS Excel is the final tool we will take a look at in the MS Office Suite
of applications. Excel is a spreadsheet application that is used by
accountants, office managers, and small businesses. It allows you
to create tabular data, work with numbers and charts in a variety
of manners. As educators, there are number of ways we can use

Now you should be clear on the requirements for our first project - productivity tool. There are many objects to complete and details to remember. I will help you step by step. You'll use various productivity tools: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to prepare materials for your class. Before you begin working on your materials, you'll sit in a short lesson on using templates to streamline your work. Part I: Learning Puzzle

The third piece of learning puzzle is Teaching Strategies. How do educators know how to teach? What strategies are used to address certain learning styles? How does learning theory impact teaching strategies? Is lecturing about your subject matter all that is necessary? View descriptions of various teaching strategies here and here. Find one classmate who has chosen a different teaching strategy and discuss about how you use the teaching strategies to introduce your chose content.

The last piece of learning puzzle is Resources and Tools. How do educators pull everything together? What tools and resources do they use to prepare a supportive learning environment? Our main focus for this semester is identifying technology-related tools and resources that support varied student learning styles and teaching strategies.

Part II: Level of Technology Implementation (LoTI level)

After putting the learning puzzle together, we are going to learn a framework, LoTi, which is used to evaluate how much technology is integrated into teaching. We use LoTi to quantify what is going on in a classroom is agood way to begin. You'll be referring to these levels, along withstandards, in all facets of your project work.

Day 5 - Learning Puzzle # 1

As we discussed from last class, technology itself can't be the only factor to influence learning. We also reached the agreement that technology (computers) can’t replace teacher's role in the classroom. However,teachers can integrate technology with the appropriate methods to improve students' learning. There are some elements that we need to consider and further develop the appropriate methods for using technology. Today, we begin to introduce "Learning Puzzle", which comprises curriculum standard, learning theories, teaching strategies, and resources and tools.

1. Curriculum Standard - How do educators know what to teach?
How do they know what students should learn? Every state has
standards and every content area has national standards. There
are even standards for technology integration. Georgia is
transitioning from Quality Core Curriculum Standards (QCC) to
the Georgia Performance Standards. You can even watch a video about the Georgia Performance Standards. You'll also want to be familiar with the ISTE standards for technology integration -- this class, and your course projects,are based on those standards. Select a grade level and subject area that will be the focus of your projects this semester. You'll need to print a copy of these standards and place them in your 3-ring binder for reference purposes this semester.

2. Learning Theories - How do educators know how to meet
the needs of the specific learners with which they are working? Are their different types of learners? Does everyone understand subject matter in the same way? How can teachers identify the different types of learners in their classrooms? Take this online quiz to determine your learning style. Find two other classmates who have similar learning styles. Day 2 - Prepare for resume

For day 2, we are going to learn more about each other in the class.
After that, we will have a chance to be familiar with the “dual platform”
in the lab. Since throughout this semester, we will be working with both
PC station and Mac station, it is important for you to be familiar with
using them.

Also, we will be setting up your keydrive. You will need one “EDIT
2000 assignment“ folder in your keydrive. Whenever you finish your work
during the classes, please save the file in that folder.

There is one very important task for us today. In order for me to learn
more about you and to get a head start on your first project, you will
need to submit a professional resume. You’ll want everything to look
professional, so use a resume template for PCs or a resume template
for Macs. Please remember that your resume must include:

Day 1-Welcome

Welcome to EDIT 2000 - Introduction to Computers for Teachers. The
purpose of this course is to help you to explore the tools that can support
teaching and learning in a P-12 classroom. As you learn about these tools
you will focus on the educational processes that these tools support -- not
the technical skills that you acquire. In other words, this is not a course
about learning computer skills in isolation; it is a course that will encourage
you to find appropriate uses for technological tools in the P-12 classroom.

In order to find and document these appropriate uses of technology, you
will work independently, in partners, and in groups to prepare educational
activities for specific curriculum topics. You will play the role of a classroom
teacher and use your content knowledge, understanding of teaching and
learning strategies, and your technology skills to develop real applications
for the various tools explored during the semester.

Your final product will be a web-based set of activities to teach specific
curriculum objectives.The instructor for your EDIT 2000 is Yi-Chun Hong.
The course website will give you all of the background information you
need. The syllabus, handed out on Day 1, will give you specifics on what
to expect during the semester. It is very important to know the syllabus
well. If you have any quesitons regarding the syllabus, please feel free to
ask me.

The only materials you'll need for this course are a key drive and a 3-ring
binder to keep track of handouts. We use Macintosh and Windows
computers in this lab -- so you'll need to become familiar with both
operating systems.

What to expect in EDIT 2000? Thoughts from past students...So, what
does technology integration look like? Harrison County High School in
Gulfport, Mississippi is a wonderful example of students and teachers
using technology tools for learning. If that's not enough, see how
Mary Scroggs Elementary School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina integrates
technology to help younger children learn.
